Graduate Maternal and Child Health Nurse

  • Part-time: 20 hours per week
  • Temporary 12-month Graduate role
  • $59.03 per hour, plus superannuation

Support families during one of life’s most important stages while building your career in a well-supported graduate role. As a Graduate Maternal and Child Health Nurse, you’ll develop your practice through structured learning, mentoring and hands-on experience across a range of Maternal and Child Health programs. In this rewarding role, you’ll deliver primary health care services to families with children from birth to school age, while building your confidence in clinical practice, community engagement and family-centered service delivery.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Deliver family-centred maternal and child health care
Provide maternal and child health services to children aged 0–6 years and their families, supporting healthy development, wellbeing and early intervention outcomes. You’ll work across home visits, centre-based consultations and follow-up care, helping families access responsive and supportive services.

  • Build trusted relationships with families
Work closely with parents and caregivers to provide evidence-based advice on health, nutrition, safety and parenting. You’ll play an important role in helping families feel informed, supported and confident, while identifying risks and connecting them with the right supports when needed.

  • Contribute to programs that support early childhood outcomes
Support and participate in universal and targeted Maternal and Child Health programs, including initiatives such as Sleep and Settling, New Parent Groups and Enhanced Maternal and Child Health. You’ll also contribute to community-based programs and parent education opportunities that strengthen connection and development outcomes.

  • Maintain quality records and support safe service delivery
Prepare and maintain accurate clinical, administrative and statutory records to meet reporting and compliance requirements. You’ll also contribute to a safe, quality-focused environment by following policies, participating in supervision and professional development, and supporting continuous improvement across the service.

What we’re looking for:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) and Midwife with general registration under AHPRA, with additional accredited postgraduate qualifications in maternal and child health nursing.
  • Interest in working with families and children, and the ability to build positive, professional relationships.
  • Beginning knowledge of maternal and child health nursing, child development and assessment, and relevant Victorian programs and support services.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a Maternal and Child Health team.
