Roadside Maintenance Trade Assistant
- Full-Time permanent position
- $34.69 per hour + superannuation
Play a hands-on role in maintaining Wodonga’s roadsides and supporting the delivery of essential community infrastructure. As Roadside Maintenance Trade Assistant, you’ll undertake programmed and reactive maintenance works across drainage, pathways, kerb and channel, signage, guardrails and related roadside assets to help keep Council infrastructure safe, functional and well maintained.

Key aspects of the role:
- Deliver roadside and drainage maintenance works
Undertake a variety of programmed and reactive maintenance works across roadsides, drainage systems, kerb and channel, pathways, signage, guide posts and guardrails. Assist in maintaining Council infrastructure to required service standards across the municipality.
- Operate plant, tools and traffic management equipment
Use and maintain a range of plant, machinery, hand tools and traffic management equipment to support daily works activities. Carry out tasks in accordance with operational procedures, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Traffic Control Plans (TCPs).
- Complete physical outdoor work activities
Perform physically demanding outdoor work across varying weather conditions and environments. Assist with labouring tasks including lifting, digging, concreting, drainage maintenance and general roadside upkeep.
- Support team operations and service delivery
Work closely with supervisors and operational crews to complete allocated works programs, respond to maintenance requests and assist with emergency response activities when required. Provide support across other operational teams as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively
Complete timesheets, work orders and other job-related documentation accurately and on time. Communicate effectively with team members, contractors and members of the public to support coordinated and professional service delivery.
What we’re looking for:
- Demonstrated experience in roadside maintenance, civil construction or related outdoor operations
- Experience operating plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and traffic management practices
- Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work activities
- Strong teamwork, communication and reliability skills
- Ability to work independently and contribute positively within a team environment
- Current and relevant licences and qualifications aligned to the role

Prior to commencement, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following:
- A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months)
- A current driver’s licence
- OHS general induction for construction works (White, Green or Red Cards)
The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment (paid for by the council) will also be required.
Evidence regarding right to work in Australia will need to be presented.
