Procurement Business Partner

Wodonga Council is seeking a motivated and relationship-driven Procurement Business Partner to support best-practice procurement and deliver high-quality services to our community. This role plays a key part in ensuring transparent, compliant and value-for-money procurement by coordinating tendering, contract management and supplier engagement across the organisation.

 

Key aspects of the role:

  • Strategic procurement support
    Work closely with teams across Council to guide them through compliant procurement processes, provide expert advice, and help identify opportunities for improved value and efficiency.

  • Tender and contract coordination
    Prepare and administer tender and contract documentation, manage the contracts register, and assist with evaluation panels to ensure quality and transparent outcomes.

  • Supplier and stakeholder engagement
    Develop and maintain preferred supplier arrangements, respond to public and supplier enquiries, and build strong internal relationships to support high-quality procurement practices across the organisation.

  • Continuous improvement & best practice
    Contribute to improving procurement systems, processes and documentation while supporting staff training, policy development and compliance with relevant legislation including the Local Government Act 2020 (Vic).

 

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone who can bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications or experience in procurement, business, law, project management or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to support and guide colleagues.
  • High attention to detail, strong organisational capability and the ability to review processes with a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Experience working with finance systems, procurement platforms, document management tools and MS Office.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and delivering excellent customer service.
