Are you hands-on, safety-focused, and enjoy working outdoors? Wodonga Council is seeking a motivated Roadside Maintenance Trade Assistance team member to support the delivery of high-quality roadside maintenance across our city. This role is essential in ensuring our roads, paths, and drainage assets remain safe and reliable for the community.
- Roadside maintenance
Undertakes programmed and reactive works across drainage, pathways, kerb and channel, bridges, signage, and guardrails. This includes tasks such as repairing potholes, clearing blocked drains, replacing damaged guideposts, and keeping roadside assets in good condition for community use.
- Plant and equipment operation
Operates a variety of plant and equipment including trucks, small excavators, concrete tools, and hand-held equipment. Ensures machinery is used safely, well-maintained, and fit for purpose so that works can be completed efficiently.
- Safety and compliance
Implement safety procedures on every job, from setting up traffic management and barriers to following Safe Work Method Statements. Maintains vigilance on site to keep team members and the public safe while minimising risks.
- Teamwork and supportWork as part of a close-knit outdoor operations team, supporting colleagues across roads, parks, and drainage crews when needed. Responds courteously to customer requests, keeps accurate work records, and assists during emergencies such as storm events or flooding.

Key Selection Criteria:
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following.
- Demonstrated experience working in roadside maintenance and operating plant
- Experience in, and ability to conduct frequent manual work activities
- Knowledge of relevant OHS policies, procedures and legislation and experience in applying the OHS principles in a workplace setting.
- Ability to work as an effective and efficient member of a team, as well as successfully undertaking tasks individually.
- Current and relevant qualifications and licences, aligned to the position description.
