Lead Wodonga’s Economic Growth and Investment Strategy
Wodonga Council is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to drive investment attraction, job creation, and long-term economic development. As Executive Manager Investment Attraction and Advocacy, you will lead major projects, activate key precincts, and build strong partnerships with government, business, and education sectors.

  • Drive Strategic Investment and Economic Growth
    Leads the design and delivery of targeted strategies to attract new businesses, support the expansion of existing industries, and secure domestic and international investment to diversify and strengthen Wodonga’s economy.

 

  • Influence Policy and Unlock Infrastructure Funding
    Advocates to state and federal governments for policy reforms, funding commitments, and regulatory improvements that enable economic development, infrastructure delivery, and long-term regional growth

 

  • Activate Precincts and Innovation Hubs
    Oversees the planning and activation of key economic precincts—such as industrial estates and innovation zones—to stimulate job creation, support entrepreneurship, and enhance Wodonga’s competitiveness.

 

  • Harness Data and Build Strategic Partnerships
    Uses economic analysis and trend forecasting to guide Council priorities and reporting, while cultivating partnerships with business, government, and education sectors to drive aligned, high-impact outcomes.

 Remuneration will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience.

 

Key Selection Criteria:  

Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following. 

1. Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Public Policy, Urban/Regional Planning, Business or related field or previous relevant extensive experience.

2. Demonstrated experience leading the development and implementation of economic growth and investment attraction strategies that deliver measurable job creation and economic diversification outcomes in a regional context.

3. Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, business leaders, investors, and community groups, and to successfully advocate for policies and funding that support local economic priorities.

4. Strong skills in managing complex projects and initiatives with competing priorities, ensuring delivery within timeframes and resource constraints while navigating regulatory and political challenges.

5. Ability to analyse economic data and policy trends to inform strategic advice, coupled with excellent skills in preparing and delivering clear, persuasive presentations and reports to a variety of audiences.

6. Experience leading and developing teams, promoting a positive culture aligned with organisational values, and collaborating effectively across departments to achieve shared economic and community goals.
