Position Summary
The Arborist Assistant supports the delivery of arboriculture services in line with scheduled programs and established service standards. Reporting to the Arborist Coordinator, this role contributes to the effective operation of the arboriculture team and provides assistance across broader Council maintenance teams when required.
Key responsibilities include performing tree maintenance activities, supporting safety compliance through the development of SWMS and TCPs, operating and maintaining relevant plant and equipment, and completing associated administrative tasks. The position also requires clear communication with internal teams and courteous customer interactions, while upholding high standards of safety, teamwork, and service delivery across all tasks.

Key Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following:
- Current Driver’s Licence and White Card (Construction Induction Training) are required. Chainsaw Operation Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement) and other relevant tickets (e.g. Elevated Work Platform, Traffic Management) are desirable.
- Basic experience in identifying trees and assessing general tree health, structure, and potential safety risks.
- Ability to use basic IT systems and mobile devices to complete work orders, record information, and communicate with team members.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, work independently when required, and contribute effectively within a team environment.
- Awareness of workplace health and safety requirements, with a commitment to working safely and following established procedures and protocols.
