The role

The School Crossing Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of school children and pedestrians at controlled school crossings. Key responsibilities include assisting children in safely crossing the road supporting school personnel in educating students on road safety and aiding pedestrians who require assistance. The role also involves attending regular team meetings and training sessions performing additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader Compliance and rotating across various school crossings as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure the safety of school children parents and pedestrians at designated school crossings.
  • Assist schools in educating students on road safety and responsible pedestrian behaviour.
  • Rotate through various school crossings as directed.
  • Report safety concerns and breaches of road regulations to the appropriate authorities.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay up to date on best practices.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with children parents and school staff.
  • Reliability and punctuality rain or shine you will be there to help.
  • The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.

  • A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months) 
  • A current drivers licence

Any other mandatory requirements outlined in the position description e.g (first aid, CPR, WWCC & forklift) 

The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment paid for by the council might also be required.
