The Role
As part of the Arboriculture Team you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and care of trees, supporting various parks and natural resources teams, and ensuring the safe operation of plant and equipment. This role is ideal for someone with a keen interest in arboriculture, a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering excellent service to the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Support roads natural resources parks and gardens teams when additional labour and plant resources are required.
- Assist in developing and implementing Safe Work Method Statements SWMS and Traffic Control Plans TCPs for maintenance tasks.
- Carry out arboriculture maintenance activities including tree watering, planting, pruning removals, weed and pest control and electric line clearance.
- Operate and maintain a variety of plant and equipment safely and competently.
- Respond to customer service requests in a timely courteous and professional manner.
- Ensure all work is performed in line with Occupational Health and Safety OHS standards and Council procedures.
- Complete administrative tasks including timesheets work orders and plant hire records.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A passion for arboriculture and outdoor work.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- An ability to follow safety procedures and work efficiently in a team environment.
- Experience in horticulture tree maintenance or a similar field desirable.
- Relevant certifications or willingness to obtain (e.g. Chainsaw Operation, Traffic Management, First Aid.)
- A valid drivers license
Key Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following:
- Completion of Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent.
- Experience in tree identification and the ability to assess tree health and risk.
- Basic knowledge of and experience in the use of a variety of IT systems.
- The ability to work unsupervised as well as collaboratively within a team.
- An understanding of the importance of a safe work environment and various OHS principles.
- To provide good customer service and ensure the quality of work outputs.
