The role
The Roadside Maintenance Plant Operator will assist the Roadside Maintenance Coordinator in maintaining infrastructure such as stormwater drainage pathways and signage. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining plant equipment safely contributing to traffic control and work method plans responding to service requests and supporting emergency management efforts. Collaboration and adherence to safety standards are key aspects of the role.
Key aspects of the role include the following:
- Support Team Operations Collaborate with roads and parks teams to provide additional labor and equipment resources fostering integrated use of council resources.
- Develop and Implement Safety Measures Assist in creating and executing Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) for maintenance tasks.
- Infrastructure Maintenance Perform maintenance activities on infrastructure such as stormwater drainage pathways bridges signage and related assets.
- Operate and Maintain Equipment Safely operate and maintain plant equipment in compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Emergency and Customer Response Respond promptly to service requests and assist during emergency situations to support council operations and community wellbeing.
Key Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following:
- Demonstrated experience working in asphalt/roads maintenance and operating related plant.
- Experience in and ability to conduct frequent manual work activities.
- Knowledge of relevant OHS policies procedures and legislation and experience in applying the OHS principles in a workplace setting.
- Ability to work as an effective and efficient member of a team as well as successfully undertaking tasks individually.
- Current and relevant qualifications and licences aligned to the position description.
