Are you a skilled communicator with a passion for community engagement? Wodonga Council is seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Coordinator to drive meaningful conversations across our city. In this strategic role, you’ll connect with staff, stakeholders, and the community to inform decisions that make a real difference. - Engagement That Matters
Plan and deliver consultation activities that give the community a voice in shaping council decisions.
We’re looking for someone who’s strategic, community-minded, and driven to create meaningful engagement opportunities.
- Support Transparent Communication
Work closely with leaders to craft clear, consistent messages that build trust and connection.
Bring your sound judgement, political acumen, and ability to translate complex information into accessible communication.
- Create Compelling Content
Develop engaging materials across digital platforms—from social media to newsletters and web updates.
We need someone with a creative eye, strong writing skills, and the ability to adapt content for different audiences.
- Build Trusted Relationships
Engage openly with internal teams, stakeholders, and community members to foster collaboration.
You’ll need to be approachable, respectful, and confident in building connections and gaining cooperation.
- Learn, Adapt and Improve
Evaluate engagement outcomes and use feedback and data to inform better practices.

Key Selection Criteria:
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following:
- Relevant qualifications and experience, and a demonstrated knowledge of community engagement
- Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully deliver community engagement plans
- Demonstrated excellent communications, professional writing and customer service skills
- Demonstrated experience in working with websites, social media and other online tools
- Demonstrated experience in working with and engaging stakeholders in a variety of settings
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise work to achieve set objectives

Prior to commencement, the successful applicant will be required to provide the following.
A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months)
A current driver’s licence
Any other mandatory requirements outlined in the position description (eg. first aid, CPR, WWCC, forklift).
The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment (paid for by the council) might also be required.
If applicable, evidence regarding right to work in Australia will need to be presented.
