Location onsite

This role will require you to be onsite during working hours.

Hours of operation for Hyphen 7 days Mon to Fri 10am to 6pm Sat and Sun 10am to 3pm

The role

The Hyphen Library and Visitor Experience Weekend Supervisor provides friendly and informative customer service to all visitors promoting current and upcoming exhibitions and experiences within Hyphen and the local area.

The role will provide library and venue support to staff and community seeking assistance including but not limited to accessing library resources and support with venue and various Information and Technology equipment. They may also support public programs events and activities where required.

 

Key aspects of the role include the following:

  • Professionally represent the Council as a frontline staff member delivering a high-quality customer experience by welcoming visitors addressing inquiries promptly and providing accurate information about library materials events and services.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue supervising staff and volunteers ensuring tasks are effectively delegated and maintaining communication with the Hyphen Operations Coordinator and Team Leaders.
  • Assist customers in accessing library technology such as computers printers and AV devices while maintaining reception areas tidying informational displays and ensuring operational readiness of equipment and resources.
  • Handle retail and ticket transactions using Point of Sale systems assist with customer booking inquiries and support preparation for programs events and venue bookings.
  • Conduct tours facilitate educational visits and provide support for activities ensuring a positive and engaging visitor experience while collecting and sharing visitor data and statistics.

 

Key Selection Criteria

Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following

  1. Completion of High School Certificate and or Certificate III Library and Information Studies OR relevant customer service work experience.
  2. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers members of the public and other employees to provide a high level of customer service in a busy and varied environment.
  3. Well developed alphabetical and numerical skills for the purpose of working within library systems.
  4. Possession of computer skills for the purpose of assisting members of the public with using library technology service personal devices and providing IT support in programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel managing electronic files sending and receiving emails and internet research.
  5. Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and a commitment to contribute to a positive team environment.
  6. Ability to work on weekends.

  • A current driver’s licence

Any other mandatory requirements outlined in the position description eg first aid CPR WWCC forklift

The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment paid for by the council might also be required

If applicable evidence regarding right to work in Australia will need to be presented
