The Role  

  • Provide a welcoming and supportive environment with a high level of customer service . 
  • Preparing, maintaining and coordinating venue rooms including setting up audio visual and other meeting equipment . 
  • Provide appropriate support services, including AV support, for the smooth operation of Hyphen exhibitions, programs, meetings and functions. 
  • Physically set up and pack up meeting rooms to ensure they meet hirer needs, including providing appropriate support services for the smooth operation of all meetings and functions. 
  • Support the IT and Systems Coordinator with inductions, building maintenance, minor equipment maintenance and updates . 
  • Delivery of digital literacy and support programs . 
  • Provide administrative support as required.  

 

 Key responsibilities: 

  •  Ensure that Hyphen facilities are in a clean and well presented condition for all functions and bookings . 
  • Assist with and understand AV requirements of all functions and bookings including testing hirer equipment and troubleshooting issues . 
  • Physically set up and pack up venue rooms including moving tables and chairs to meet the booking requirements of the venue.   
  • Support the IT and Systems Coordinator with identifying, logging and following up building maintenance issues including meeting with contractors onsite . 
  • Support the IT and Systems Coordinator with trouble shooting venue issues, minor equipment updates and repairs . 
  • Support the IT and Systems Coordinator to understand the AV and lighting requirements of exhibitions and programs . 
  • Conduct inductions into Hyphen spaces including Maker Space, Sound Studio and Creative Studio  
  • Deliver programs such as ‘Helpdesk’ sessions and Connected Seniors to support digital literacy in the community . 
  • Provide programming support as required . 
  • Provide customer service at the Hyphen reception desk . 

 

Key Selection Criteria  

  1. Qualifications and/or relevant experience in a library, museum, education, cultural or customer service setting 
  2. Demonstrated high level of computer and administration skills with an eye for detail  
  3. Experience in setting up audio visual, computer or sound system equipment  
  4. The ability to assess priorities and manage competing requests 
  5. A high level of customer service skills and experience in a busy and varied customer service environment with a focus on cultural sensitivity and meeting the needs of clients from a wide variety of backgrounds. 
  6. Commitment and ability to work effectively in a team-based environment as well as the ability to work independently

  • A current driver’s licence

The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment (paid for by the council) might  also be required.
