About the Role
The Senior Strategic Planner provides project management and technical expertise to support the delivery of key planning projects, particularly focused on Wodonga’s growing suburbs and the Leneva-Baranduda Urban Growth Area.
Some of the duties of the role include:
- Provide project management, technical expertise and advice on land use strategies, structure plans, development plans, planning scheme amendments, growth area planning and infrastructure coordination issues;
- Maintain strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders including land owners, key developer groups, internal Council units and major government agencies to ensure effective project delivery, coordination and support across Council and government;
- Provide knowledge and advice on social planning and community development outcomes;
- Support processes within council units particularly Statutory Planning around subdivision planning permits and Development Plans;
- Assist with the development and review, as required, of the Leneva Baranduda Precinct Structure Plan and other policies, standards and guidelines relating to planning and infrastructure coordination for the Leneva Baranduda Growth Area.
What you will bring
We are looking for applications showing us that you have:
- Tertiary qualifications in town planning or in relevant areas.
- A thorough knowledge, understanding and experience with Victorian planning provisions and development processes;
- Extensive demonstrated experience in strategic and/or statutory planning or in related fields. Experience within a Victorian local government setting advantageous;
- Demonstrated experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and handling diverse and complex strategic planning and/or consultancy projects;
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills advocating to internal and external stakeholders;
- Demonstrated experience in presenting to stakeholders or groups of individuals. Experience preparing for and presenting at Planning Panel advantageous;
- Demonstrated ability to manage time, set priorities and organise work, both independently and as part of a team, to achieve set objectives.
