About the Role 

The Resource Recovery Officer contributes to the effective operation of the Resource Recovery Centre by providing quality waste management assistance and education to customers. This is a customer facing role and requires good communication skills and an ability to provide effective customer service to the diverse users of the Resource Recovery Centre. 

Some of the duties include: 

  • Ensure that incoming materials are safely and securely deposited in correct locations with the aim of maximising separation, re-use and recycling, including goods for sale. 
  • Actively educate and advise Resource Recovery Centre users on waste management related issues such as separation, re-use and recycling of materials. 
  • Providing support in the street litter and street sweeping function as required. 
  • Ensure appropriate safety and security measures are maintained at the facility. 
  • Using plant equipment as required while adhering to the relevant safe work procedures.

  • Ability to undertake required duties in a safe manner, ensuring your own safety and that of others within the workplace. 
  • Well-developed customer service skills in order to present a confident and professional image to customers. 
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Basic use of computers.
