About the Role

As the Arborist Assistant you will assist the Wodonga Council arboriculture team in providing quality services with the general duties including the following:

  • Assist with tree management and maintenance as part of our skilled arboriculture team.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for all maintenance tasks associated with the arboriculture team.
  • Assist in the selection, development and implementation of traffic control plans (TCPs) for all maintenance tasks associated with the arboriculture team.
  • Accurately complete timesheets in accordance with the team’s operating procedures.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the supervisors of roads, parks, gardens, natural resources teams including labouring duties in periods of low arboriculture maintenance activities.

What you will bring

We are looking for applications showing us that you are:

  • Experienced in tree identification and the ability to assess tree health and risk, or willingness to learn these skills under our instruction.
  • Aware of and experienced in the use of a variety of IT systems.
  • Able to work unsupervised as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Bring an understanding of the importance of a safe work environment, and various OHS principles.
