Natural Resources Planner

The opportunity 

We are looking for a passionate enthusiastic individual who can advocate for great environmental outcomes. You will be a key stakeholder in the management of Wodonga’s unique landscape using your influence and negotiating skills to ensure our community enjoys a thriving natural environment. 

Using your environmental expertise to participate in policy development and project delivery, you will be able to form great relationships to ensure development coexists with the preservation and enhancement of our stunning bush land and reserves. 

Key components of the role include the following. 

·         Prepare and implement council policy, procedures and strategy to inform effective environmental planning and management across the city

·        Provide environmental advice to permit applicants and for council projects to ensure compliance with regulatory standards

·         Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal, government, development and community stakeholders to better achieve positive environment outcomes for the City.

The position sits within the council’s Strategic Planning team and will work closely with our wider infrastructure and Outdoor Operations teams. The successful applicant will have a strong background in environmental management. Experience in planning is desirable but not essential. We need a relationship builder, negotiator and someone who is prepared to passionately advocate for great environmental outcomes for our community.
