- Full-Time permanent position
- $35.81 per hour + superannuation
Play a hands-on role in maintaining Wodonga’s roadsides and supporting the delivery of essential community infrastructure. As Roadside Maintenance Trade Assistant, you’ll undertake programmed and reactive maintenance works across drainage, pathways, kerb and channel, signage, guardrails and related roadside assets to help keep Council infrastructure safe, functional and well maintained.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work, operating plant and equipment, and being part of a supportive team that delivers visible outcomes for the community every day.
Key aspects of the role:

Spend your days maintaining the infrastructure that keeps Wodonga moving. From repairing roadsides, drainage systems, kerb and channel, pathways, signage and guardrails to responding to reactive maintenance, you'll help ensure Council assets remain safe, functional and well presented.
- Operate plant, tools and traffic management equipment
Work with a variety of plant, machinery, hand tools and traffic management equipment as you move between job sites. Every day brings different tasks, with safety at the forefront as you follow Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) and operational procedures.
- Complete physical outdoor work activities
Enjoy an active role where you'll spend most of your time outdoors. Whether you're digging, concreting, clearing drains, lifting materials or carrying out general roadside maintenance, you'll see the direct results of your work across the community.
- Support team operations and service delivery
Work alongside a skilled and supportive crew to deliver planned maintenance programs, respond to customer requests and assist with emergency works when needed. You'll also have the opportunity to support other operational teams, making every day varied and rewarding.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively
Wrap up each job by completing work orders and timesheets, while keeping in touch with supervisors, teammates, contractors and members of the public to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
What we’re looking for:
- Demonstrated experience in roadside maintenance, civil construction or related outdoor operations
- Experience operating plant and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and traffic management practices
- Ability to undertake physically demanding outdoor work activities
