Plant and Fleet Officer
- Full-Time Permanent Position
- $47.51 per hour + superannuation
This role plays a key part in ensuring Council's plant, fleet and operational equipment are effectively managed throughout their lifecycle, supporting the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of essential community services. Working within the Infrastructure & Development Directorate, you will coordinate asset maintenance, procurement, contract management and renewal programs while helping maximise asset performance and value.
This is an opportunity to apply your technical knowledge, contract management expertise and analytical skills across a diverse fleet of vehicles, heavy plant and operational equipment. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external contractors, you'll contribute to strategic asset planning, financial management and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational performance and long-term sustainability.
Key aspects of the role:
- Manage plant and fleet assets throughout their lifecycle
Coordinate the maintenance, renewal and disposal of Council's fleet, plant and operational equipment, ensuring assets remain safe, reliable, compliant and fit for operational requirements.
- Lead procurement, contract management and compliance
Prepare specifications, coordinate procurement activities and administer maintenance and service contracts while monitoring contractor performance and ensuring legislative and contractual compliance.
- Support financial management and asset planning
Monitor operational and capital expenditure, contribute to budget development and renewal planning, and provide reporting that supports informed asset management and long-term investment decisions.
- Drive operational improvement and customer service
Work collaboratively with operational teams to provide specialist advice, resolve asset-related issues and identify opportunities to improve fleet performance, sustainability and service delivery.

Key attributes include:
- Experience in plant and fleet management, asset management, contract administration or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors, procurement activities and service contracts.
- Knowledge of fleet lifecycle management, maintenance planning and asset renewal principles.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational and financial information to support sound decision-making.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work collaboratively across a diverse organisation.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records and reporting.
- A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and delivering high-quality customer service.
Relevant tertiary or trade qualifications, or equivalent industry experience, will be highly regarded.
